I had the honour of laying the town council poppy wreath at our cenotaph yesterday, 11th hour of the 11th Day. I like taking part in the rememberance ceremony on the actual day.
It was nice to see so many people there, especially the contingent of children from our local primary school, despite it being a saturday.
Young Molly Preston read the poem beautifully and with confidence.
The whole service went very well.
Today being rememberance sunday I shall be watching the parade at the cenotaph on telly, full of admiration at the veterans who turn up every year and stand around in the cold for ages before they march past.
Many of whom are well into their eighties and more.
Brings a tear to my eye.
